Year 6 have had a wonderful week in the classroom. We started the week by creating our own poems to retell the story of 'The Journey', linking in our work from last week. Their work is beautiful and they should all be very proud of themselves.

In Maths, we completed our topic of converting measures and we started to look at the concept of ratio. With the help of Cuisenaire rods, practical activities and team work, we have developed a great basic knowledge of the topic upon which we can now build.

In Science, we started our new topic of 'Living Things and their Habitats'. This week, we looked at different characteristics of a group of animals and thought about how we could classify them. We had to identify 2 different groups and then sort the animals into the correct group.

In our reading sessions, we have started to read 'When the Sky Falls' by Phil Earle. The children have been really enjoying the book and making links to the text from the lessons we had about World War 2 last term. It has been great to see them remember important details about the events of the war and how the story reflects the experiences of people.
