Welcome to Year 6

Hello everyone,

We hope that you have all had a lovely Christmas break and that you are all ready for an exciting Spring term. Below you will find some information ready for this term and in the files you will find our Spring newsletter and topic web. This outlines more details about our curriculum this term and some important dates specific to Year 6.

Staffing

We are very lucky to be continuing with the same experienced team of adults again this term. Miss Poland will be your child’s class teacher with her PPA (planning and assessment time) on a Tuesday afternoon. During this afternoon, your child will be taught PE and music by Mr. Gough and French by Mrs. Hayes. We are very lucky to have Mr. Gough with us every morning and three afternoons during the week. Mrs. Davies will support in class all day Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning too. On a Friday afternoon, we will have the support of Mrs. Kendrick.

Things to bring

All equipment will be provided and kept on your desk to share as a table.  If you wish to bring some extra pens or pencil crayons in a pencil case, you may bring them and leave them in your bag in case you need them for art or publishing work.

You will need to bring in a waterbottle each day which can be refilled at suitable times.

PE

Our PE days have now changed. They will now be every Tuesday and Wednesday. Your child will only be required to wear their PE kit to school on Tuesday and will need an indoor PE kit each Wednesday that they will get changed into. We are asking you to send your child's indoor PE kit to school in a named bag- these will be kept in the cloakroom and sent home every half term to be washed.

A reminder of our PE kit. We wear navy shorts, a blue school t-shirt and trainers. In the winter, we wear a navy-blue tracksuit. Earrings and watches should be removed for PE. Please remember, earrings will need to be removed for these sessions and long hair tied back.

Celebration Assembly, Hot Chocolate and Golden Table

Each week, a child from each class, will be chosen to be the star of the week. Parents are invited to join this celebration on Monday afternoons at 2.45pm. If your child is chosen as star, you will receive a smartmessage/email through School Spider the Thursday prior to the assembly.

During this assembly we will also announce who will be on eating their lunch on our golden table. Children are chosen during the week by MDAs, lunchtime coaches and teachers, for displaying excellent behaviour during lunchtimes. These children choose a friend and they both get an early lunch pass to join a member of staff on the golden table.

We will also have #Hotchocolate Mondays to recognise children who have gone above and beyond each week. This will be announced and celebrated in Celebration Assembly.

Weekly Blog

Each class will now be posting a weekly blog to let parents know what we've been doing in school. We will write this together and upload it to the website on Friday.

See you all soon!
