Year 3 2023 - 2024

Mr Waring

Welcome to Year 3

             Important Information for Summer Term:

For Summer 1, our PE days are Tuesdays and Fridays. Please arrive to school in uniform and children will change in school for both sessions.

As the weather starts to get warmer, please ensure your child has a sun hat and water bottle in their bag.

Staff who will be working with us in the Summer term:

Mr Waring – Monday morning, Tuesday, Wednesday (afternoon), Thursday and Friday

Mrs Taylor – Wednesday (morning for science)

Mrs Cox - Monday (afternoon for art and RE)

Our support staff will be Mrs Clark and Mrs Johnson

Below you will find our Spring newsletter and topic web which contains all the wonderful things that we will be completing this term.

Things to bring with you on the first day back after the Easter break:

We will make sure that all equipment for learning is available at school. If your child would like to, they can bring in a sensible pencil case with any additional colouring pencils or pens they would like to use on special occasions that they can leave in their bags until they are needed. We will continue to use the school pencils for writing in class. Children are advised to also bring a water bottle in to keep on their tables and bring a waterproof coat to school.

Weekly Blog and Term Overview

Please continue to check our weekly blog, we try to post them every Friday! Below in the files section is our autumn term newsletter and termly overview, this will cover all the areas of learning that we plan to do during the autumn term.

PE

Our PE days will be Tuesdays (outdoor) and Fridays (outdoor) for the Summer term. Children need to bring in their outdoor PE kit, which will remain in school during term time and we will be getting changed ready to go outside.

If your child is selected to represent our school, they should still attend school in their school uniform and will get changed into their PE.

Snack

Snack is no longer provided in KS2, you are able to bring a small healthy snack to school or purchase a hot snack from the kitchen. The cost of the hot snack is as followed: buttered toast – 25p, buttered crumpet – 30p and fruit – 30p. On a Friday the children can also choose to buy a bacon or sausage sandwich for £1. Children do not need to bring money into school and these items can be paid for through Scopay (the same method as paying for school dinners).

Homework and Reading Diaries

Homework, spellings and timetables will be sent out a Friday, homework needs to be returned by Thursday at the latest. Please ensure that your child brings their reading diary to school every day, so they are able to leave comments from the books they are reading. Homework and spellings will be posted on Google Classrooms every Friday, if you do not have a login, please let me know via the year 3 email.

Homework will commence the second week back and changes between our maths, Whiterose work booklet and English based tasks.

Celebration Assembly and Golden Table

Each week a child, from each class, will be chosen to be the star of the week. Parents are invited to join this celebration on Monday afternoons at 2.45pm. If your child is chosen, you will receive a smartmessage/email through School Spider the Thursday prior to the assembly.

During this assembly we will also announce who will be on eating their lunch on our golden table. Children are chosen during the week by MDAs, lunchtime coaches and teachers, for displaying excellent behaviour during lunchtimes. These children choose a friend and they both get an early lunch pass to join a member of staff on the golden table.
