Friday 6th October

Date: 6th Oct 2023 @ 4:47pm

We've had a very busy week in Year 6. We have been:

  • Looking at the difference in active and passive voice within our literacy and how we can change an active sentence into passive voice. Year 6 produced such beautiful work within their books to show this skill off. We then looked at the features of a newspaper report and the skills for writing a good article to help us write our own next week.
  • In Maths, we have looked at prime, square and cube numbers before moving on to recap multiplying a three and four-digit number by a one-digit number and then beginning to tackle the tricky three and four-digit number by a two-digit number.
  • In Science, we had much fun making our own periscopes to support our understanding of reflection but to also link to our study of World Wars. We then spend some time researching about the inventors of periscopes and where they are used within the modern day.
  • In History, we have spent our time presenting our learning on The Blitz. Year 6 are wowing us with their skills and attention to detail within their books.
  • Within our whole-class reading sessions, we have been looking at some notable people and learning about what they have achieved in their life. We have spent some time focusing on Malala Yousafzai and Claudette Colvin and have had some great discussion about them fighting for rights that we now take for granted.
