Year 1 22.9.23

Date: 22nd Sep 2023 @ 3:54pm

This week, we have looked at our class text, 'Lost and Found', a little bit more. We have written labels for animals using our sounds and next week, we will be writing an animal inventory for our favourite animal - I can't wait! I love activities where I learn things from the children.

In maths, we looked at one more and one less. Please support your child at home with this by constantly asking them "What's one more/ less than X?" (within 10 only). The children can use counting forwards/ backwards or their fingers to help them.

In geography, we compared Mickle Trafford to Chester by looking at both on Google Earth. We noticed how green Mickle Trafford looked compared to Chester.

Spellings tested next week (Friday 29th September)

-are (this one is tricky so we will continue to practise)

-said

-has

-was

Homework: please see homework books.

-In Year 1, Children are expected to write their first and second name with a capital letter.

-Capital letters: children need to learn the corresponding capital letter for lowercase sounds.

This homework is ongoing. Please continue to practise when you have time at home.
