Year 1 - Friday 11th November

Date: 11th Nov 2022 @ 3:59pm

Another wonderful week in Year 1.

In literacy, we started to read our new book and wrote sentences using 'and' about our lost and tired penguin. In maths, we looked at number bonds within 10 and enjoyed working systematically with double-sided counters. For rememberance day, the children took part in a minutes silence and sewed their own poppies -  we were really impressed with the children's patience and concentration! In our geography lesson, we looked at the four countires of the United Kingdom and discussed the British Isles. I have been really impressed by the children's letter formation this week - our writing lessons are speeding up and we are starting to work in larger groups, building towards whole-class teaching!

On Friday, the Year 1 children took part in their first spelling test. We were blown away by the children's enthusiasm! Thank you for all your support with reading and spelling at home.

Have a lovely weekend,

Year 1 team.
