Year 2 - 5.1.24

Date: 4th Jan 2024 @ 5:33pm

Happy New Year everyone!

Welcome back to school.

The children have return to school on a high, telling us all about their Christmas break. On Wednesday, the children shared some news and we enjoyed learning about what each other had done.

This week, we have been learning about refugees and we have been reading the book 'My Name Is Not Refugee'. We have thought about important things we would need to pack in our rucksack, we have thought about the things we would do on our travels, we have thought about what is important to us and why, we have thought about why we love our home so much and we have tasted foods from different places. On Friday, we joined with Reception and Year 1 to find out about what they had learnt about refugees too.

Next week, we will be moving on to our space topic and learning all about Neil Armstrong and the first moon landing.

We will also start our new Literacy text next week. Please could children bring in (or email in) any family pictures that they have from different places they have visited.

We have started our spelling lessons again this week and have spellings ready for a test next Friday 12th January. The spelling pattern we have been learning is the or sound spelt a before l or ll.
