Year 2 Autumn week 6 - 13.10

Date: 12th Oct 2023 @ 1:12pm

Wow - only one week left of Autumn 1! Time flies when you're having fun!

The children have had another great week and they've all worked their socks off! This week we have been focusing lots on our writing. We have been working on letter formation and letter sizes and have been using conjunctions to extend our writing. We've been figuring out which ones are appropriate to use and when. We've also been working on using higher level vocabulary. We have banned the word sad!!!

During our maths lessons this week, we've recapped using our greater than and less than symbols. Next week we are going to recap our 2, 5 and 10 times tables and introduce our 3s. If you want to get a head start over the weekend I would be super impressed!

Well done to every child who has brought in extra homework for our special additional work book. I'm so proud of how engaged the children are in their own learning.

In the afternoons this week, we've enjoyed creating maps of our classroom and of our school. We have also talked about our Christmas production (yes, already!) and the children have told me whether they would like a larger, or a smaller role. Next week. children will come home with their scripts.

Mrs Cox has finished off some lovely Farm to Fork work with the children this week. They've enjoyed watching videos online to support their learning. I have linked them below for you to watch at home, if you would like to.

Don't forget, next week is our Harvest Festival. Mr Oulton from The Food Bank will be coming in to support Mrs Taylor with leading an assembly. He will be taking our food collection back to the food bank. Donations are gratefully received.

Homework for this weekend

This week, we have been looking more in depth at numbers to 100. We have been comparing them, ordering them and representing them with our maths equipment. The children love using TopMarks to play maths games. So, homework is fun this weekend! Please follow the link to the TopMarks website and choose a game that will support numbers 1-100.
