Year 3 - 8.3.24

Date: 8th Mar 2024 @ 4:54pm

Welcome back to Year 3's blog. The children have been working incredibly hard this week as we've moved in to some tricky fractions work in maths. It was great to see teamwork and resilience on display as the children learnt new words such as numerator, denominator, unit fraction and non-unit fraction. Today we looked at representing fractions as wholes.

In literacy we looked at our new class book 'Escape from Pompeii' by Christina Balit. We've made predictions, written a narrative on the main characters (Tranio and Livia) from the front cover. Today we used conjunctions to join expanded sentences together. It has been a good memory jog as we've applied our previously learnt knowledge of volcanos in our literacy work.

On Tuesday the children presented their gardens to the rest of the class. They were set a task of designing a garden which was for someone with a disability. There was more great teamwork and resilience on display like in maths. We are awaiting Mrs Johnson's final decision on the winning garden.

Next week we will start our Spring assessment. Therefore there will be no guided reading slips or spellings set for next week.
