Year 4 2026 - 2027

Mr Hutchinson

Hello Year 4!

Welcome back everyone!

We hope you have had a lovely break and are excited to return to school.

Staffing

We are lucky to have a range of experienced staff supporting us throughout the week. Mrs Hayes will be supporting us throughout the week with Mrs Davies and Miss Monahan also working with us at times.

Here are a few useful reminders:

PE

This term, our PE sessions will be on Fridays.

On Tuesdays, we will be replacing a PE session with forest school. Please ensure your child comes into school in old clothing (not school uniform) that they can get dirty in.

Please also send in a named bag containing the following:

- Waterproof outer layers (a waterproof coat and waterproof trousers are
ideal).
- Waterproof shoes (walking boots or wellies).
We will put our waterproofs on before we go outside. Please name all items of
clothing so that we can return missing clothing to the correct child.

The children will require a PE kit to be kept in school at all times. The kit will need to consist of: a plain (or logoed) light blue PE top, plain navy shorts, a pair of trainers or pumps.

Depending on the time of year children may also need a pair of joggers to be brought in for outdoor PE. On PE days, children will be able to wear their sports hoodies instead of their jumpers if they have them.

Times Tables

Over the first term, children will get a good start on practising their times tables which will help them to build towards the National Multiplication Check. Any support you can give the children with learning and practising their multiplcation tables would go a long way. The children have all received their TT Rockstars logins. This is a great way to develop their skills in a fun way. Below are some links that could be used at home:

Homework, Diaries and Spellings

Homework will be set on Mondays and should be handed in by the following Monday unless otherwise stated. The work will link to what we are covering in class. Please let us know if your child has any difficulties by popping a note on their homework or sending us a message.

Children will continue to come home with their Reading and Homework Diaries which will contain their homework and spelling patterns that they will be learning in school. Please ensure their Reading and Homework Diaries come into school every day.

If you have questions throughout the year, please get in contact via: [email protected]

Below you will find our Autumn Newsletter and Topic Web.

I'm really looking forward to welcoming all the children to our class and can't wait to get started!
