Year 1 24.11.23

Date: 24th Nov 2023 @ 3:41pm

This week has been very busy. In maths, we started to make links between bonds within 10 and addition. We used Numicon, counters, numberlines and our fingers to help us add together.

In history, we compared the similarities and differences between Mrs Lyon, Queen Elizabeth II and Ruby Bridges to understand what makes someone a good leader. We then wrote works inside a gingerbread man to make a 'recipe of a good leader'.

In Writing, we designed inventions for different fairytale characters to help them. We had some amazing ideas:

  • A shoe dispenser for Cinderella
  • A gingerbread bike that squirts out golden syrup to stop the bakers catching the Gingerbread Man
  • A porridge making machine so that Goldilocks can always eat porridge like Baby Bears'
  • An invisible cape so that Goldilocks can sneak in and eat Baby Bear's porridge everyday!

In art, we compared materials and started to sort them into categories. We also designed our Christmas bunting (whilst listening to Christmas songs of course!)
